A collaboration between Cincinnati-based chef-artist Maggie Lawson and farmer-artist Lyric Morris-Latchaw, this project transforms the gallery into a reading room (a space for reflection and conversation) and a kitchen for putting up the abundance of the season. The artists, who are both new mothers, strive to bring together the tension between preserving traditions and the desire for social change. As well as navigating the widening gap between urban and rural ways of living. Are homemaking, homesteading, and mothering inherently oppressive tasks, or is there room for liberation within these traditions?
The artists will draw on their networks of farmers and deep thinkers to create a performative environment for reflection on this topic. As part of the scheduled programming for ‘The Welcome Project’, a special BIRTH STORY SHARING CIRCLE will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 9th from 1:30-4pm.
All birthing people (from people trying to get pregnant, currently pregnant, recently postpartum through decades postpartum) are welcome to attend to share or witness the 6 stories which will be featured during our allotted time*. Babies-in-arms are welcome.
*All birth stories are welcome, which means some may share intense aspects of their birth story that could be triggering. We ask that you please listen to your heart and use your own discretion to determine if attending this gathering will align with your emotional needs.
